The Extraordinary Oprah Winfrey

I am not the sort of person who rushes home every day to catch the Oprah Winfrey Show.  However I was lucky enough to be invited to breakfast with her on Monday.  (Just Oprah and me- and about 300 others.)  She was amazing; so centred and graceful, and wise.   She said many amazing things – gems that I know I am going to take out of my memory treasure chest to look at and play with for a long time to come.

As we are drawing to the end of the year, and the start of a new one, I was particularly struck by the things she said about moving forward into the future.  She quoted the Good Witch in the Wizard of Oz telling Dorothy: “You have always had the power.  Now click your heels and get on with the future”.

I loved that.  So often I see clients who feel that the future is not up to them; who fear that what they would like to achieve or receive in their lives is dependent upon the good will or good humour of those around them.  So many people live lives of suspended animation while they wait for the future to be delivered to them, hoping that it is the future they desire.  (Then they take themselves off to a life coach and give themselves permission to make choices about the futures they want.)  One of my greatest pleasures is seeing my clients realise that they do, indeed, have the power to get on with on with the future they choose for themselves.   As Oprah said, “I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.”

She also told us that she believes that we were all brought here to do something extraordinary, and if we listen to the whispers we will be able to hear ourselves; hear our true intentions and true desires.  So, as this year draws to a close, and we start to think about what we would like to achieve in the forthcoming one, I invite you to ask yourself “what is whispering to you right now?”  What changes would you like to make, what plans would you like to set in place, what things would you like to achieve?   In 2010, my hope for you is that you find a way to allow yourself to be the extraordinary you that you are.

I am looking forward to 2010 (after a good, long and restful break of course).  A few future highlights include:

  • My very own life coaching column starting in Femina magazine (January edition out in mid December) which I am very excited about.
  • Monthly group workshops and tele-classes.  I am receiving increasing demand for group coaching, which affords (if you will pardon the pun) powerful coaching in a safe environment that encourages sharing and support, at a rate which is more reasonable for many.  To see a comprehensive programme of the workshops and tele-classes I have already scheduled for the upcoming year, click here.
  • Corporate coaching workshops

What are you looking forward to in your future?

With love and gratitude to you,

Judy
