Newsletter January 2009
The beginning of a new year brings with it resolutions, clean slates and that feeling of starting over. No time is better for assessing your life, and asking yourself the question - is this MY life?
The other day I met someone who asked me what I do as a Life Coach. Rather than giving my usual analogy of strategic planning for individuals (we work out where you are, where you want to be and how to get you there), I found myself answering about the heart of life coaching - namely, that I help my clients arrive at a place where they can give themselves permission to do the things they know they want to do.
On some level, we all know what we would really like to be doing and where we would like to be in the world, - we call it daydreaming or fantasising. Yet, often we are concerned about how the people around us will respond if we start doing what we aspire to and becoming that person. What will the neighbours/God/my parents/etc think? So we pretend that we don't really have those ideas for ourselves. Sadly, pleasing other people at the expense of ourselves doesn't really get us anywhere. Trying to make someone happy based on what we think will make them happy, doesn't result in happiness. In fact, it results in a one-way ticket to our own unhappiness - not to mention a life that does not belong to us, but to the expectations of others.
Guidance as to how to align with who you are is what I am passionate about. As each individual has different needs, Stellar Life Design offers a range of one-day workshops and monthly seminar programmes as well as one-on-one coaching sessions in person or over the phone.
So in this new year, my hope is that you are able to give yourself permission to be who YOU want to be. May your expectations of 2009 be exceeded and may you be open to many new and exciting opportunities and ventures.
May you find the courage to give yourself permission to make new choices.
Best wishes for a wonderful and happy 2009,
Judy
